Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) today announced an increased total prize pool of over $2 million (approx. 260 million yen) for its upcoming global Capcom Pro Tour 2023 esports tournament, which features its storied Street Fighter<\/em> series.<\/p>\n\n

Capcom is working to establish esports within society as a new form of entertainment, believing it to have the potential to be the next generation of sports where—regardless of age, gender, or physical differences—anyone can compete from anywhere in the world online. Capcom has held the Capcom Pro Tour along with the world-championship tournament Capcom Cup each year since 2014, staging live competitions in more than 40 countries while carrying out online events in 129 countries worldwide. Additionally, Capcom runs the competitive team-based Street Fighter League in Japan, the U.S.A., and Europe.<\/p>\n\n

To commemorate the release of Street Fighter 6<\/em>, the latest title in the series, as well as invigorate the launch of a new fighting game scene in esports, Capcom is offering over $2 million (approx. 260 million yen) in prize money for the Capcom Pro Tour 2023 overall, of which $1 million (approx. 130 million yen) will be awarded to the champion of Capcom Cup X, marking the company’s largest-ever prize pool for these events. Capcom has further revealed that Street Fighter 6<\/em> will be featured in the sixth season of Street Fighter League: Pro-JP, as part of its various initiatives to continue entertaining people the world over through esports.<\/p>\n\n
