Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) is pleased to announce that the decision has been made to produce a television drama based on the popular “Sengoku BASARA” series of home video games.<\/p>\n\n

The “Sengoku BASARA” series consists of action games that are based on warlords and events during Japan’s era of the warring states. The games represent unique and revolutionary worldviews in this era while allowing players to create stylish heroes. Since releasing the first title of this series in 2005, Capcom has been using its single content, multiple usage strategy to utilize this captivating perspective of the world in a broad spectrum of applications, which extend from TV animation, stage productions to collaboration with local governments. <\/p>\n\n

The new television program is called “Sengoku BASARA -MOONLIGHT PARTY-“. Kento Hayashi was chosen for the lead role of Masamune Date and Kohei Takeda will play Masamune’s rival Yukimura Sanada. Kojuro Katakura, Masamune’s right-hand man, will be played by Hidenori Tokuyama and GACKT will be the devil king Nobunaga Oda, who wants to rule the whole world. Overall, these highly individualistic actors will create a television drama that has all the energy and excitement of the game’s original characters. At the same time, the program will create a new “Sengoku BASARA” worldview that is possible only through a television program. The first episode is scheduled for July 12, 2012 (Thursday) on the Mainichi Broadcasting System(MBS). In addition, it will be broadcast also by the midnight frame of BS-TBS in September.<\/p>\n\n

Capcom is currently adding several new releases to the “Sengoku BASARA” series. A new social game called “Sengoku BASARA Card Heroes” debuted in May and distribution of a browser game called “Browser Sengoku BASARA” started in June. In addition, Capcom plans to launch a home video game called “Sengoku BASARA HD Collection” on August 30. Capcom use these multi-use initiatives, which include the new television program, to make “Sengoku BASARA” appealing to an even broader range of user segments.<\/p>\n\n

As always, we at Capcom will continue to pursue our “Single content multiple usage” strategy by making advancements on new hardware to maximize sales while leveraging our brands to bring maximum satisfaction to as many of our users as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n
